Chateau de Beynac

View of the Chateau de Beynac from the hillsThe Château de Beynac is one of the most beautiful example of medieval castle in France. Never taken but temporarily "occupied" by Richard Lion Heart in the 12th century, it once was defensively facing the english territories across the river.
Property of the Lords of Beynac until 1962, it has since been undergoing a 100 years renovation plan under the direction of the new owners. 50 years later, it is engulfing the visitor in a tale of war, crusade and architecture.
If you only have a couple of days in Dordogne this is the Château to see absolutely.
Open everyday of the year.
